Description

I’m Dean Paxton. I’ve been involved with computers, in some way or another, since I was about ten years old. Even before that, I was waiting until I could get one. I remember being very young, between seven and nine years old, going to the library and checking out books about computers. I don’t think there has been too many days, since about 1977, that I have not had my hands on one.

My own family is very large and consists of my wife Amber and my children: Hope, Day, Jens, Jasmine, Damian and Paige. Yes, I have six children. Life at paxtonland is a hectic, interesting, blissful at times and amazingly difficult at others. All of my children, as well as all of my family, bring immense joy into my life. I feel fortunate to have them and I realize that they are providing me with a great deal of the memories that will occupy my mind when I am old.

I guess that this really was pretty much a vanity page. I’ve used it for many reasons, mostly just to keep my own bookmarks and have a convenient startup page for my browser. The page went through several re-designs and remained almost static and link-based until 1999. The version you see now is the latest effort to adopt an interactive page as well as develop a small community for family and friends to share ideas and discuss current events. The site is based heavily upon a mixture of Wordpress 1.5, PHP, PERL and pure junk code. The database behind paxtonland is MySQL. The vast majority of paxtonland is generously hosted by a local hosting company, Prevo.net, whom I’m glad to be friends with. Previous to that, paxtonland resided for many years (for free) at ais.org, which is the University of Michigan Computing Club (UMCC) web server. I am grateful to my friends at the UMCC for hosting so much of paxtonland, even today.
