Evenplayn, thanks for your notes on the IanSchrayPhotography.com page. I restored the previous entry because I think the fact it was removed was a mistake. I also tried to answer your concerns on that page. Feel free to add more comments there if you like or leave me a message on my talk page. -- TakKendrick

Maybe you are new to wiki and to the understanding that wiki is a social process. A trusted community member saw your comment as not constructive- thus deleting it. Another one saw it and and wanted to answer it. Just like the give and take in life, there are social processes happening within a wiki. One of our "motos" is - it's about the people, the people, the technology, and the people." Let me know if I can show you around the place. Best, MarkDilley

Hi Evenplayn! Let me know if you would like a quick tour around the place now that you have had a bunch of time here. Best, MarkDilley

Hello - I just wanted to pop in and show you something that I'm excited about. It's a new tour of wiki and AboutUs. Right now there is a more beginner tour at TheWikiWay:WhatIsWiki with three more advanced tracks in the works which you can see at WikiAnatomy. Have a great day and let me know if I can help with anything.

Evenplayn,

I just fixed the map for you. Take a look at what I did. The map thing requires the addresses to be on individual lines beginning with the ":" symbol to indent it. I've been rallying for months for a better map system, looks like we'll start talking about it more firmly in the upcoming weeks, we're gearing up for an upgrade to MediaWiki and after that I'm hopeful the map will work more logically. Anyway, for now, just stick the ":" in front of the address lines. Let us know if you have any other questions. -- TakKendrick

Featured Question

Hi Evenplayn

To answer your question:

What happens when a wiki pages is nominated to be featured? Does Aboutus.org run a search every so often to see who has been nominated? Does the nominated page need a comment first? Thanks for the insight!--Evenplayn 21:49, 21 June 2007 (PDT)

The pages go into a queue and then we do look at them. Generally I'd like them to be looked at and processed within a few days to a week so we can put them on the list. Also, I tend to "sneak" a peak at the list every night before I do the feature to see if anything new has been nominated that fits with the other pages I'm thinking about featuring (or is just a better feature).

While we're on the subject, I noticed last night you but a couple of comments up on other people's featured nominations. Thanks so much for that. We want as much of the community doing that as possible and early adopters such as yourself are the beginning of the groundswell. Keep up the good work. (I also saw you nominated HickoxStudio.com the other day. On first glance it looks like a pretty good page; it did the job of making me think I where my next haircut will be. I'll take a closer look and get it onto the potentials page this weekend.) -- TakKendrick

re redirects comment on Tak's page

I tried to have a page redirect to another one (and I erased all the content). My redirect doesn't work and I can't figure out how to revert back to the previous page. Help! Template:unsigned

I noticed the conversation so I jumped in.. I've fixed the redirect, but if you still want to revert to a previous edit, go to the history tab and pick the edit you want, click edit, then Save Page. Best, Nathan (talk) / 04:57, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
You had the code completely right, just the capitalisation for the domain was off. Nathan (talk) / 05:11, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

AboutUsLogo and WhoWeAre

Hi Evenplayn, we're trying to finish a process of accepting a logo to replace the listening man we have now. The idea is to approve the proposal now, and then work on WhoWeAre. Interested in helping? Add yourself by putting you name in the box on the AboutUsLogo page and update the boilerplate that's filled in. Please let me know if you need help. Thanks! Obed Suhail

Hi Evenplayn, I went ahead added you AboutUsLogo:Status/Evenplayn. Please update that page with YES or NotYet and a comment. Thanks! TedErnst
Perfect! Thanks. I left you another note on AboutUsLogo:Status/Evenplayn. peace, TedErnst
Hi Evenplayn, I left a new note for you here: AboutUsLogo:Status/Evenplayn. Looking forward to hearing from you soon! Best, Obed Suhail 05:00, 23 July 2007 (PDT)

WhoWeAre

Hi,

I would just like to tell you about the WhoWeAre consensus poll. This is a unique opportunity for all community members to discuss and decide what AboutUs is and more importantly what role we, the community, plays.

The discussion is still in its initial stages and there are a handful of people involved in this discussion. But it's not enough. Every one of us has a stake in this process. We all need to air our views. Our opinions will make a difference. We cannot and must not let a handful of people define us. We must speak out and contribute because we are being defined and I for one would like to have a say in how I am being defined.

Please contribute to this really important project. Without you it cannot successfully create a good definition of who we are. Tanwir Shah

NewSkin Beta Preview

Hello Evenplayn!

We've noticed your contributions and are glad to be on the AboutUs team with you! As an ActiveMember your energy and ideas determine our future direction. One way that ActiveMembers stay "in the loop" is to participate in the beta previews of large new changes to the site before they are generally released.

Today we're starting a limited beta preview of an earthy NewSkin intended to reflect the alive and growing AboutUs community. The NewSkin is designed to feel wholesome and connected with the real world. This choice was made to reassure the many folks who feel that the internet is a "scary place" where mean people hide behind fake identities and shout insults at each other. We hope that the NewSkin evokes our values in a way that helps visitors and members alike feel grounded in true community.

We'd love your help putting the NewSkin through its paces! To give it a whirl you'll need to be logged in. Once you are logged in, go to "my preferences" | "skin" and select "design". Don't forget to then click the "save" button! You can always go back to the current skin by selecting "aboutus" via the same steps.

Your feedback on the new look for aboutus will help ensure that it has a maximally positive impact when we roll it out. Thanks for being a valuable member of the community, we look forward to your feedback on the NewSkin page!

Warm Regards,
the DevelopmentTeam

Re: Goboz.com

Hi -- Just a note to say I liked what you did with Goboz.com. Hope you don't mind my edits at the foot of the page. -- Llywrch 15:52, 12 September 2007 (PDT)

About the Facebook link, I removed that because, it didn't look as if it fit. There are a lot of links -- categories & domains -- added by a bot & have little if any relevance; for instance, everything seems to be linked to Google.com. You're more than welcome to restore it. -- Llywrch 16:07, 12 September 2007 (PDT)
