Mozilla is best known for it’s development of the award-winning Firefox internet browser and Thunderbird e-mail software. Unlike companies such as Microsoft, Mozilla believes in open-source code and development cooperation amongst users and programmers on the web. Mozilla believes that this open-source and collaboration between developers and users provides value through better software being developed for everyone to use.

Mozilla offers Firefox and Thunderbird both as free and open source applications. Mozilla encourages people to download the free software and code and make modifications to them as they see fit.

Firefox and Thunderbird are both fast and secure applications preferred by IT professionals world-wide. They can both compete in the market with Internet Explorer and Exchange type products created by Microsoft as well as those created by other leading software manufacturers.

Mozilla acts as a software development tools provider with their Bugzilla, Bonsai and Tinderbox tools. Bugzilla is an industry leading server software with helps software designers manage development of their applications. Bonsai is designed to allow you to watch the changes to an application during it’s development. Tinderbox is a webtool which constantly monitors the Mozilla application suite of software to enable you to monitor its performance.

Mozilla was launched in 1998 by Netscape and quickly became a leader in the open source movement. They are stead-fast in their belief in open source software and in allowing their tools and code to be used to enable developers build the best appications possible. Mozilla believes in low cost software and the ability to modify that software to meet your unique business needs.

Mozilla has a large development community and believes in allowing it’s development community to assist in its application development and testing. Rather than build it’s software in secret and release it without the source code available, Mozilla develops it’s software where people can watch and comment along the process. This creates better applications because with more people looking at the code, the cleaner and more bug-free the code becomes.

Because Mozilla believes in open source code, internet standards and education, they have been steadily gaining popularity around the world and continue to climb in popularity amongst developers and users alike.

They also have a pretty active wiki
