A link farm is different than a ParkingLot. The differnece is intention. A parked page is generally a page that a registrar sets up when someone registers a domain. It might say something like This page is parked free, courtesy of JuntoOnline

A link farm is someone actively trying to get Google or other search engines to see that there are pointers to their site. They are actively spamming forums, wikis and weblogs with their links. LinkFarms actively promote, and lure people to their sites. Generally even the "news" items end up being ad links. LinkFarms are intentional. They then get their links out there to be placed high up in searches.

We should be tough on this kind of activity.

Well, many ParkingLot pages will eventually become real pages. LinkFarms rarely do.

we should be aggressive against them when they show up and start turning us into a link farm for them.

ok, let's start a link farm page and do the lock down and protect page thing, or make that a suggestion, yhrow it on the community portal to see what others think

It's valid in some respects, but how often is it what people are looking for? They search for information, hit one of those sites because they play SEO games, and get ads

right, to me Parking Page is simply a holding page that Registrars put up to make a few pennies (or dollars) prior to the registrant putting up a real site
