Description
The Willamette Valley Road Runners' mission is to support and encourage a healthy approach to running and training for runners of all ages and all levels of ability. Through the camaraderie of a club atmosphere, members enjoy running for the purpose of general fitness as well as personal and team goals. As a group the Willamette Valley Road Runners participates in, as well as promotes, running and fitness related events and activities throughout the communities of the Willamette Valley. A Salem running and racing club formed by the merger of Pheidippides Running & Walking Club and the Willamette Valley Striders on January 1, 2002. Member of Road Runners Club of America (RRCA). Our club is dedicated to running for fitness and fun for runners of all ages. Many of our members compete regularly at distances of 1 mile to 100 miles on the track, road and trails. We have a road relay coordinator who puts together teams for approximately 3 designated relays a year. We also have regularly scheduled training/fun runs 2 times a week. The club also organizes 5 racing events a year ::
Saturday morning long runs and walks leave from the YMCA at 685 Court St at 7:00 am. Call Brooke at 503-363-8959. Distances are usually long and easy, 2 to 26 miles. (Note - some will also start at the Governor's Cup Coffee House, 495 Court St or Gallagher Fitness Resources, 233 Commercial NE, during the Summer, groups of runners/walkers will leave as early as 4:30 am).Visitors and non club members are always welcome.
