We have decided how sad it is for others that they cannot appreciate our genius.
- So basically I should just say that I'm on vacation (or “on holiday” for our international readers), since I really have nothing of interest to write about at this time. Some say that this here website thingy has just become a place for me to whine about being “poor”. Good grief. Of course I know that I’m not “poor”. But living in a place where people making $100,000/year are “just scraping by” does tend to warp one’s perspective. So sorry for any self-indulgent, narcissistic bellyaching, but isn’t that what these “blog” things are for anyway?
- A nice young man taught me about the hongi (warning: sound). I know it would be deemed cultural appropriation by my former classmates back at my crypto-Maoist college, but I think I'm going to start greeting people this way. Although my frequently sweaty head might be a bit off-putting for some potential greetees.
I’ve had a weird fascination with New Zealand for some time. (I always loved that crazy haka business.) Normally I’m kind of uninterested in the world created by European colonization (the U.S., Australia, Latin America), but I've had this weird idea that New Zealand is a wonderful place that predates those Lord of the Rings movies. (Maybe it’s all the child-lesbian matricide.) I have never been there, but I hear there are a lot of sheep, and that they pronounce “pepper” like “peeper”.
