- So why bother making this site? And why home-grown instead of Blogger or Xanga? I suppose that, like the settlers in the 1800s, it's about having your own piece of property out in the wilderness of the Internet. And it's all about doing it on your own with no help from anyone else. Of course, there is the ease of making a journal using Blogger or any other journaling service, but having a home-made site allows me to fiddle around and experiment with the code that I write and the design of the site. Chances are, not too many people visit my site, and that doesn't matter to me. But here is a place where (hopefully) those who do visit can see a little slice of who I am.
