Description

Mike and Vicki Pasterik and their family moved to Corry in 2002 from a small 6-acre farmstead just north of Pittsburgh where, with 3 cows and uncountable chickens, they had run out of room.

Over the past several years, the Pasteriks have gone through a gradual change from a mainstream lifestyle to a simple, "back to nature" view of life, believing that optimal health can be achieved by simply doing things the way their grandparents did in the "old days" before there were so many "new fangled" ideas about farming.

As their family grew, so did their desire to give their children the best they had to offer. They bought some laying hens in 1999 and started enjoying freshly laid eggs. Shortly thereafter, they discovered first-hand the benefits of raw milk after buying a "family cow" named Annabelle. The following year, they began raising chickens for meat using the "pastured poultry" method laid out by Joel Salatin in his writings. All the while, they raised a large garden, free from chemicals and enjoyed it's bounty year round.
