First established in 1938, Name Maker, Inc. began as a small fabric label company in New York City. Young entrepreneur Bernie Bryan, president of Notions Unlimited which sold sewing accessories to fabric chain stores, bought the company in 1960. Bryan decided to renovate the Name Maker brand and worked with engineers for months to acquire and rebuild all of the original machinery for a plant in Atlanta.
Name Maker began mass producing personalized nametapes, sewing labels, and custom made labels for families across America. Bryan's transformed brand attracted families in generations who grew accustomed to the level of quality and comfort his company provided them. Grandmothers adorned their beautiful handiwork with personalized labels. Mothers sent kids to camp with clothing identified by Name Maker name tapes. The company grew and continued to add new products for its loyal customer base.
A few decades later, Bryan's daughter Cheryl Dorrell joined the family business. Armed with a B.A. in telecommunications and a strong work ethic, she quickly worked her way up from telemarketer to president. In 1996, Bryan semi-retired to Las Vegas and Dorrell assumed direction of the company.
