Title

filmcritic.com : movie reviews on Internet time

Description

Welcome to filmcritic.com, one of the oldest and certainly the liveliest film and movie review destination on the Web! Founded in 1995, filmcritic.com hosts more than 6,000 movie reviews and feature stories contributed by 20-some critics located throughout the world. Six of our contributors are members of the Online Film Critics Society, the Internet's most prestigious critics' organization. Celebrities ranging from Owen Wilson to Russ Meyer, Jackie Chan, Val Kilmer, Jeff Daniels, Kevin Costner, Daniel Day-Lewis, John Woo, David Cronenberg, Mira Sorvino, John Singleton, Alicia Witt, and Wes Anderson have been interviewed on the site. We are based in San Francisco, with outposts in New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Seattle, Austin, Charlotte, Denver, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Sydney, Australia.

Through the site and our syndicates, filmcritic.com's reviews and interviews are seen by more than four million readers each month, in print and on the Web, and in (at least) four different languages. The site has been featured on/in CNN, Yahoo! Internet Life, HotWired, About.com, Ain't It Cool News, WDFN Detroit radio, City to Cities magazine, Critic Doctor, NYU's ReadMe, "What's New With Mosiac" in May 1996!) We regularly appear on Yahoo! Movies and Movies.com.

As a site, we strive to publish timely and entertaining movie reviews -- if our review isn't first, at least it'll be the best. Our name may be filmcritic.com but that doesn't mean you're getting dry, stuffy mind-food about the movies. Our reviews and feature stories are meant to entertain, while still providing insight into the craft of filmmaking. We hope you'll find our reviews to be light-hearted, humorous, full of attitude, and maybe even nonsensical. We may not always agree with the critical consensus (in fact, we rarely do), but if we did, you wouldn't need -- or want -- to read what we have to say, would you? There are dozens of other Web sites that play it safe and toe the party line. And they all suck. We are also an all-access destination, meaning we review major Hollywood blockbusters and indies so small they haven't even found distribution yet. So if you're looking for the inside line on those film festival gems, chances are we've got it here. (And of course, all reviews are bylined by the authors: Real people, not incoherent, anonymous reports from test screenings.) So enjoy, bookmark us, and tell your friends about filmcritic.com!
