Entergy founded by Mr. Couch, is a landmark in the field of electric power production and retail electric distribution operations in United States of America. Entergy has approximately 30,000 megawatts of electric generating capacity and it is a nuclear power generator (both Utility and Non-utility) and serves around 2.6 million utility customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas and natural gas to approximately 157,000 customers in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Entergy also operates the non-nuclear wholesale assets business. Entergy has annual revenues of more than $10 billion and approximately 14,500 employees.

History

Dec. 2, 1913: Entergy started its project of electricity production from saw dust and began pursuing a national nuclear growth strategy in 1998 by buying nuclear energy plants that no one wanted. From there started the process of advancement of technology and switching over from basic ways like fossil plants to modern methods of nuclear energy. Today, headed by Mr. J. Wayne Leonard (CEO), Richard J. Smith (PRESIDENT), Entergy is the largest nuclear operator in the Northeast and the second-largest in the nation, operating 12 units. Entergy achieved its ultimate goal by developing an integrated electric system with numerous sources of power so as to be able to provide a reasonable price. Most importantly Entergy lays special emphasis on the fact that environment is a limited and valuable resource that nature has bestowed on us to share and enjoy. That privilege adds up a basic responsibility for every individual to understand its importance and sustain a clean and healthy environment for future generations. Keeping this on the back of the mind Entergy promotes environmentally cleaner and more efficient generation, transmission, distribution, and use of energy.
