- As much as we love Subaru’s sporting, enthusiast’s car persona, the turbo lag that accompanies it on all the sporty models sold in North America detracts from the experience. Interestingly enough, Subaru’s 3-liter flat-6 produces the same 250 hp as the 2.5-liter flat-4 Turbo as found in the Legacy 2.5 GT, but without the turbo lag. Unfortunately, we North Americans can only get the flat-6 powertrain in the silly, jacked-up-suspension Legacy Outback with an automatic transmission. And it’s even more maddening to know that most of the rest of the world is enjoying this delicious, tasty recipe from the kitchens of Subaru and we’re not.
