Performance Standardbreds was established in 1990 by a few Standardbred enthusiasts who realized the animal's enormous potential as a saddle horse. Recognizing the need to give horses no longer able to race new lives, Performance Standardbreds now promotes the breed in a new and positive light. Performance Standardbreds gratefully acknowledges the support of Horse Racing Alberta in contributing to our efforts. The first annual Performance Standardbred Horse Show was held in June of 1991.
