Mrs. Mehjati was born in 1949 in Tehran, Iran. She was the first of four children and grew up in Teheran with her sibilants. She went to public schools in Tehran. Mrs. Mehjati married after she started her undergraduate program in Melli University1969. Then, she worked in an international company in Iran as an interpreter (French & Farsi). She then worked in two embassies as a translator. In 1975, she and her husband decided to travel to US to get their Masters degree.
