Poor air quality is a health threat to everyone in the Sacramento region. Stay informed and protect yourself and your loved ones. Spare The Air advisories for ground-level ozone pollution are issued from May-October when the Air Quality Index (AQI) is expected to reach 150 or above.
Drivers are asked to reduce driving or not drive at all during periods of unhealthy air quality. Carpool to sports and recreation activities, bike or walk in the morning hours when pollution levels are low, postpone errands or take the bus and light rail.
Free transit on the following transit systems on Spare The Air days:
- Auburn Transit, Lincoln Transit, Placer County Transit, and Roseville Transit
- Yolobus and Unitrans
- El Dorado Transit
