What is Loan ?

  An advance of funds from a lender to a borrower on the agreement that the borrower pays interest on the loan, plus pay back the initial amount of the loan at or over an agreed time 

What is Stock ?

What is Bond ?

  Bonds are basically a chance for you to lend your money to the government or a company. You can receive interest and your principle back over predetermined amounts of time. Bonds are the most common lending investment traded on the market.

  There are many other types of investments other than stocks and bonds (including annuities, real estate, and precious metals), but the majority of mutual funds invest in stocks and/or bonds. 

What is Mutual Fund ?

  A mutual fund is simply a financial intermediary that allows a group of investors to pool their money together with a predetermined investment objective. The mutual fund will have a fund manager who is responsible for investing the pooled money into specific securities (usually stocks or bonds). When you invest in a mutual fund, you are buying shares (or portions) of the mutual fund and become a shareholder of the fund. 

What is Diversification ?

  Diversification is the idea of spreading out your money across many different types of investments. When one investment is down another might be up. Choosing to diversify your investment holdings reduces your risk tremendously. 
  The most basic level of diversification is to buy multiple stocks rather than just one stock. Mutual funds are set up to buy many stocks (even hundreds or thousands). 

The Company

    Fortress Fund Managers Ltd. began operations on December 9th, 1996 launching its first fund the Fortress Caribbean Growth Fund, investing mainly in equities in the Caribbean region. The Fund presently has approximately 6,800 shareholders and manages over US$105M in assets. 

    The second Fund, Fortress Caribbean Property Fund Limited, was launched in 1999 to invest mainly in real estate and structured as a closed-end fund. The Fund is listed on both the Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago stock exchanges and has assets of just over US$53M.

    The Fortress Caribbean High Interest Fund was launched in May 2002 investing mainly in fixed income instruments. The fund currently holds assets under management of US$27M.

    In September 2003, Fortress Caribbean Pension Fund Limited was created to fill a void left under served in a market usually dominated by the large insurance companies. The Fund offers a defined contribution plan which can be described as a fund of funds as it offers three (3) distinct classes of shares to investors.

The Global Value Fund is a US Dollar fund launched on November 15, 2006 at US$1.00 per share and is domiciled in the British Virgin Islands.
