Enter-Narnia.com is an online fan community and virtual game. Visitors can create accounts, "travel through Narnia" by playing games and battling, save virtual currency and buy virtual items, and chat with other fans of the Narnia series.

The website, originally opened in 2007, closed by 2009 until December of 2014 when the original team restarted the website.

History

Enter-Narnia was officially opened on the 24th of June 2007. Enter-Narnia started out as a basic version of a PHPBB forum, with minor modifications. As the site started to get on its feet, it was modified more with features such as a battle-and-quest adventure, virtual shopping, exploring 'Narnia,' and MSN/LiveJournal icon downloads. Further along in the site's history, Enter-Narnia used Living Avatars to rehaul the PHPBB avatar system and give users the opportunity to create a Narnian character with outfits like Jadis' dress, Lucy's school clothes and more.

Enter-Narnia Live, a multiplayer computer game, was released on May 16, 2008. Users traveled through a 3D world as non-Narnian-canon characters. Despite being released, the game was in its early stages and never fully completed by the time the site went offline.

In August of 2008, Enter-Narnia lost a majority of its staff members and ceased to be updated. The site stayed online for users to play without updates through to 2009, when the site went offline.

On December 1, 2014, the site went back online after being offline for four years. The site is currently being rebuilt from an old software coders had previously abandoned. All user data and site structure was lost, although partial databases and site pages were eventually recovered. Most of the software the site was running on has been abandoned by the original developers and is not compatible with the new coding; as a result, all the user accounts were lost, but some users were sent an e-mail inviting them to rejoin the site. Enter-Narnia is currently in a beta test, where invited users have full access to the site and are encouraged to provide feedback to help shape the site.

Gameplay

Enter-Narnia allows users to go 'through the Wardrobe' by creating an account and selecting a Narnian to accompany them on their journey. Users are then free to spend their time on the site as they like doing various activities such as battling the villains from the Chronicles of Narnia books and movies, collecting virtual items, chatting with other users, and playing games. Users are rewarded with the virtual currency Narnia Bucks for completing tasks on the site. There is no set objective for users to accomplish, which allows users to make their own goals. Certain accomplishments are rewarded with prestige on the site such as having the strongest or most intelligent Narnian, collecting the most stamps, or having a high rank on the forums.

Games

Users can play games such as quests, trivia, slots, and lottery. New games are constantly being added to the site, and most are browser based. When the site relaunched in 2014, developing mobile and tablet friendly games has been one of the Enter-Narnia Team's top priority to keep the site modern.

Currency and Items

Narnia Bucks are the currency of Enter-Narnia, with users earning points for activities and games on the site. Narnia Bucks can be saved or used to buy weapons and other items. Most items on the site are available to buy from Narnians (NPCs), although more powerful items have a rare chance of being for sale directly. These more sought after items are more easily obtained through other members via shops and auctions.

Items are given a designated rarity, being a number between 1 and 250. A rarity from 1 to 100 signifies the item's availability in an NPC's shop on a inverse percentage scale; for example an item with a rarity of 25 has a 75% chance of being available when an NPC gets in new items. An item that has a rarity of 98 only has a 2% chance of being for sale. NPC's refresh their stock a few times every hour. Items with a rarity over 100 are not obtainable directly from a shop and originate in other ways, either exclusively through quests, as rewards from contests, etc. An item with a rarity of 250 is exclusively designated for use by the site's One Player Battle opponents; users can temporarily obtain these weapons by stealing them in battle.

Messageboards

Enter-Narnia started out as a modified version of the phpbb forum software. During this time, the Chronicles of Narnia films were still in theaters and the site messageboards were extremely popular for users to discuss the films and books. After the site was restarted in 2014, the forum has returned without any posts. Currently only beta testers have access to the site and forums, where they can interact with each other and the staff to provide feedback and suggestions regarding the site.

In addiiton to forums, Enter-Narnia has a private messaging system much like e-mail. All activity on the site is monitored to adhere to the site's family-friendly rule policy.
