CommunityReviewsFormatting

Revision as of 20:15, 10 May 2007 by KristinaWeis (talk | contribs)

Community Reviews are an integral part of AboutUs and we encourage people to post appropriately worded, constructive, and informative information to better build the sense of community and wealth of practical information that can be found here on AboutUs.org (see Guidelines section below for more).

Please use the following as a formatting guide for where reviews should go and how they should look...

Getting Started

A typical page will have the following headers:

  • Title
  • Description
  • Languages
  • Address
  • Contact
  • Additional Information
  • (Discussion)
  • (Community Reviews)
  • Related Domains
  • External Links

The "Community Reviews" and "Discussion" sections are optional and are typically not present until their need arises, so if there is not already a "Community Reviews" section simply add it below the "Additional Information" header and above "Related Domains." If somebody has already posted a review on a particular page, all you need to do is enter 2 lines below theirs and begin writing your review.

Examples

Logged-in User Example Review:

If you are a logged-in user you can sign your name with a link to your PersonalPage as well as the date and time by leaving four tildas (~) after the *posted by. An example review from logged-in user would be formatted like this:

==Community Reviews==
===Great Site!====
I really love AboutUs.org because...
*posted by ~~~~

...which looks like this on the page:

Community Reviews

Anonymous User Review Example

When a review is from an anonymous user (an IP address) it will be formatted like this example from A4StockPhotos.com (with three apostrophes (') around Anonymous to make it bold and the date and time manually added):

==Community Reviews==
====At last, images that aren't all from the US!====
Some great images on this site, good value too considering they are all full size. All the one's I've used have
been exactly as described, professional, high quality.

Guidelines/Notes

  • If you come across reviews that are incorrectly formatted or in the wrong place, feel free to fix them or let us know by sending a link to any of our recent changes patrollers.
  • In order to better serve the AboutUs community it is preferred that previous reviews not be deleted, but rather that they stay to represent the entire review discussion. Counter-reviews are often the best response to a review that you may disagree with and they may be added just below the existing one. Say no to edit wars.
  • While positive and negative reviews alike are appreciated, profanity and personal attacks are not.
