Beer store with 1000 beers, ciders, and meads. Craft and imported beers from the Pacific Northwest and the world. Imported teas, candies, and condiments. Gifts for the beer lover. T-shirts and brewery glassware. As of 2007, the addition of a Biercafe with 12 rotating specialty draughts, serving sandwiches, soups and snacks.

Belmont Station was founded by Don Younger, owner of the Horse Brass Pub in Portland, Oregon, and graphic designer Joy Campbell.  Belmont Station opened in 1997 to showcase the astounding variety of local craft beer and imported beers available to Oregonians.

Campbell served as general manager at Belmont Station from 1997-2007. Initially the store was located next door to the Horse Brass Pub, and the two businesses held countless events in concert. For a number of years, Belmont Station shipped beer, beer that was often unavailable in other states, which resulted in strong name recognition among craft beer enthusiasts throughout the country.

Belmont Station started with 300 beers and now has up to 1,000 beers in stock. The business is also known for lively, free beer tastings and for expertise on the subject, as well as a strong emphasis on customer service. Campbell and Younger were known to welcome beer enthusiasts from around the world, for daylong adventures to the plethora of beer hot spots in Portland.

In 2005, the acquisition of state license to sell kegs kept the business afloat, but it was clear by this time that a larger location was in order. When a neighborhood grocery store with an adjoining coffee shop became available for lease, the owner of the building contacted Campbell and plans to relocate began.

In 2007 the store moved to the new location, which included a cafe (formerly the coffee shop), with the now expanded beer store. A share of the company was purchased by Carl Singmaster, owner of the now defunct Manifest Records, North Carolina. Singmaster is currently general manager of Belmont Station. Historically, staff members have included many who went on to become beer writers and brewers. Much credit for the store's continued success is attributed to manager Christopher Ormand, who came on board as beer buyer in 2002.
