Blossoms Saskatoon native Carla Scharback trained in floral design at a local florist before opening her own fresh flower shop, Blossoms, on Saskatoon's busy 8th street strip eight years ago. Today, she caters to clientele who prefer a more "non-traditional" approach. "We're known for unusual flowers, berries, grasses and branches," says Scharback.
In addition to extraordinary arrangements, she specializes in garden ornaments, gifts, and floral-themed art and photography. "Our generation is realizing there's more to gardening than beds or annuals and pots of geraniums," she says. And when does this entrepreneur find time to garden herself? "Sundays between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., and then I go like crazy!"
