Description
(From their about page) The Gender Identity Center of Colorado, Inc., (GIC) is a non-profit corporation organized in 1978 and incorporated in June 1980. The organization was formed to provide support to transsexuals, or those people who cross dress, or are non-traditional in their gender identity. The Center is also an informational and educational resource to the community at large.
The GIC is available to anyone, male or female, who can benefit from its services or resources, including spouses and significant others, parents, and siblings.
The GIC is a tax exempt, 501(3)c nonprofit corporation which provides these public services to the community, but receives none of its support from tax dollars. It is funded by collection of door fees for meetings, tuition for seminars and workshops, membership dues and donations. Receipts can be given for any donation of money or materials.
Meetings
The Gender Identity Centre of Colorado holds a number of meetings for the transgendered and crossdressing community. The Gender Identity Centre of Colorado also charges door fees to their meetings. The door fees are $5 for Members, $7 for Non-members and they are free for first time visitors.
- Monday: Open Meeting - Anyone can attend an open meeting: 7:30 - 9:30 PM
- Tuesday: Transitions- Focuses on those in later stages of transition or "post" transition: 7:30 - 9:30 PM
- Friday: Crossdresser Meetings - Support for cross-dressers: 7:30 - 9:30 PM (First Friday of every month is hosted by TriEss )
- Saturday: Social Time - Open social time for everyone: 7:00 - 9:30 PM
- 3rd Sunday: F to M Meeting - Support for Female to Male TS's: 5:00 - 7:00 PM
- 4th Thursday: Open group at GLBT Center - Anyone can attend the open group every 4th Thursday at the GLBT Center 1050 Broadway.
