RuneScape takes place in the fantasy-themed realm of Gielinor, which is divided into several different kingdoms, regions, and areas. Players can travel throughout the gaming world on foot, by using magical teleportation spells or devices, or mechanical means of transportation. Each region offers different types of monsters, materials, and quests to challenge players.

Players are shown on the screen as customisable avatars. They set their own goals and objectives, deciding which of the available activities to pursue. There is no linear path that must be followed. Players can engage in combat with other players or with monsters, complete quests, or increase their experience in any of the available skills. Players interact with each other through trading, chatting, or playing combative or cooperative mini-games.

Andrew Gower created DeviousMUD, which was the forerunner to RuneScape, in 1998. On January 4, 2001, RuneScape was released to the public. Since its release, the game has been praised for its free-playing abilities and its availability on a web browser. As of December 2003, RuneScape has been rated as one of the fastest growing out of all of the MMORPGs.

Rant

Jagex does not respond to any emails or by customer support. In a human message, all they do is just send you a automated message(already been made)

So if you account gets banned they will just send you a message saying something of the lines,

"Sorry we have the right to ban your account because you agreed to are TOS, We allow you to make a other account in hopes that you, can follow the rules this time."

Also a bad thing about this is, if your account gets banned unfairly, by accident then its gone.

If you borrow some gp from your friend there system will auto-detect and weird trade and ban you, when you did nothing wrong.

They Don't give out their phone number because of lots of innocent people getting banned and they don't want to have hear it.

Extremely limited customer service.

Accounts are easily hacked by those that have no computer experience whatsoever.

If you really want to play a online game try "world of warcraft"

i think this game is completely great and has the capability to become the best game ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!! but i think there is a flaw it is to complicated to earn money and to increase your skills. i think it should be easier for players to make money so the can have more fun. enjoy the game.

I came across Runescape on [Warcraft Forums] because there was a link to a [Runescape Help] website. Ever since then, I'm hooked. I stopped playing WoW and now play Runescape full time.
