Title

LCV Education Fund Integrates Work of Center For Environmental Citizenship into its Programs

Description

At the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Education Fund , we believe that greater and more strategic participation in the democratic process is the key to environmental progress. LCV Education Fund strengthens the capacity of the environmental movement to mobilize citizens as informed voters and advocates for sound environmental policies, thereby increasing the influence of the environmental majority on the national, state and local levels. We identify those citizens with environmental values and encourage their full participation in the political process. We enhance the capacity of environmental organizations to become fully engaged in the democratic process. We build and amplify the grassroots political power of the environmental movement by maintaining a network of partner organizations equipped with top-quality tools and training to defend and win strong environmental policies. These partnerships ensure that our efforts are not duplicative, but rather add value to the overall efforts of the environmental movement.

Through innovative programs, LCV Education Fund creates winning strategies that yield both short-term policy victories and long-term change. Since 1996, our training, technology, research, and public education programs have directly strengthened the capacity of more than 500 environmental and other progressive organizations in 30 states, and our non-partisan voter participation programs have helped mobilize millions of members of environmental groups through direct voter contact, absentee ballot enrollment, ballot initiatives, and on-the-ground partnerships with allied groups.

We have trained more than 1,000 grassroots leaders, sponsored nearly 40 state based and national opinion polls, and helped hundreds of coalitions promote successful issue campaigns on everything from clean water in Florida to energy in Alaska. Our research and technical expertise, plus our experience in bringing strategic, successful methods to grassroots campaigns, have allowed us to develop targeted techniques and messages for engaging citizens with environmental values.
