The Edgartown Art Gallery is the exclusive regional representative of Ray Ellis, the Martha's Vineyard impressionist whose work is in permanent collections of the White House, museums across the United States, and private collections worldwide. In the very heart of the village, nestled in the historic Colonial Inn, is a special new venue where the Edgartown Art Gallery exhibits limited edition prints of its most celebrated contributor artists. The "Prints Gallery," as it is known by locals to differentiate it from the "Originals Gallery" located on South Summer Street, was only recently opened in response to the visiting public's demand for works of art that evoke the magic and majesty of Martha's Vineyard. The emphasis at the "Prints Gallery," then, is on works inspired by Island sights, scenes, and landscapes. Whether purchased for one's own home or as a gift for another, a print by an artist such as Ray Ellis or Marjorie Mason is the ideal way to venerate memories of this special place. Numerous other artists are also represented. All prints are of the very highest quality with many created using the Giclée process. Prints are available framed or unframed. A relative newcomer to the village's art scene, the "Prints Gallery" is destined to become a landmark. If you have an appreciation for fine art it certainly belongs on your itinerary when you are in Edgartown.
