Barry Schwartz and Jerry Gurewitz first met at the age of twelve at Queenstown Delicatessen owned by Jerry’s father. They became fast friends. At age fifteen, Barry began Barry’s Fine Catering, always the entrepreneur. He went on to work the counter at Posin’s. He became a buyer at Giant Food, and opened his first restaurant in 1992 called Barry’s Place. He then joined Parkway Deli in Silver Spring as a partner. Soon thereafter, Barry opened Schwartz’s Kosher Caterers.
