Beth Whitney

Description

Home page of Beth Whitney, a folk artist from Seattle. Not many grow up as the fifth of six kids, but Beth was one of these wee ones stuffed in the back of an old Volvo station wagon toting a bail of hay on top for their family’s small farm north of Seattle. Now an award-winning songwriter, she takes her barefoot upbringing, blends indie folk, sweet raw poetry, and a hint of pop, to create rare and timeless music. Her stories of human love, faith, and suffering, are made flesh and blood over finger-picked guitar as she crafts audible paintings from words, memorializing people and moments in song as living, breathing beings. Often performing as a duo husband/collaborator, Aaron Fishburn, compliments the melodic gems with steady rhythms and rich bows on the upright bass. Listeners describe Beth and Aaron's onstage persona as original, fresh, and disarming, which is seen within and between songs such as their latest singles, "Pirate" and “Ezekiel.”
