XBlock.com, previously owned by Xblock Systems, was co-founded in 2000 by Wayne Porter and Jan Hertsens to provide solutions that help end users, small businesses and enterprises protect themselves against threats from spyware, adware, key loggers, Trojan horse and RAT attack code, denial of service attack agents and other malicious remote access applications. In addition they also launched and grew the SpywareGuide.com information portal and participated in the FTC Spyware Workshop as panelist and contributor.


Formation and Growth

In 2005 Xblock.com organized under Xblock Systems, a West Virginia Limited Liability Company. In this year the company announced filing for two patents around Software Template Policy implementation and Software Restriction Policy implementation and began marketing to the Enterprise marketing segment.


Acquisition by Facetime Communications, Inc.

FaceTime announced its acquisition of XBlock Systems LLC. FaceTime Communications Inc., of Foster City, California, plans to use the technology to enhance detection of unsanctioned programs that evade detection by security products and can undermine enterprise security, said Kailash Ambwani, FaceTime's president and CEO.

FaceTime is best known for spotting spyware and is best known as a provider of products that protect against security threats in instant messaging and peer to peer traffic. FaceTime acquired XBlock's spyware database, spyware scanning and detection and inoculation technology.
