Description

About WVNET

West Virginia Network (WVNET) is an agency within higher education of the State of West Virginia and was created in 1975 to provide computing resources for public higher education. Since then WVNET has expanded our computing services to include, among other things, Internet connections, Oracle database services (mostly to support the BANNER Student Information System software package from SCT (now known as Sungard HE)), spam and virus email filtering services and web hosting services. Our client base has also expanded from just two year community and technical colleges and four year universities to cover local and county governments, almost every state agency as well as every K12 school in the state.

Our Systems Support Group has extensive experience in managing DEC/Compaq/HP OpenVMS clustered servers running on Vax, Alpha and Itanium processors, AIX systems from IBM as well as the Linux environment (and of course Microsoft Windows on the desktop).
