Description

phoogoo® is a creative services network, based in Portland, OR serving clients around the world. That means we act like a virtual agency, utilizing the talents of some of the best web development, marketing, advertising, and new media professionals to tailor service packages that exactly meet the needs of your businesses and organizations for a fraction of the cost of traditional agencies.

phoogoo (formerly Woodsyworks) was started in 1998 by Zachary Hoffman, while living in Tokyo, Japan. At that time it was merely a web site to list stories about life in Japan, pictures and fun stuff. In the intervening years Zach has worked for a number of companies (DentistryOnline, Dotster and StrictlyDirect). He has also formed relationships with a number of other talented designers, programmers, writers, freelancers and agencies to help dozens of clients grow their business and gain visibility on the web.

In January 2006, the name Woodsyworks was changed to phoogoo. Fugu (ふぐ or 河豚) means puffer fish. In Japan, fugu are a delicacy served cooked or as sashimi. I suppose we can come up with some metaphor for "growing" your business like a puffer fish does. Heck, we even used the tagline 'get huge.' But we just think fugu are cool.
