Description
The Kansas Association of Wheat Growers is a not-for-profit organization founded under the laws of the State of Kansas. We are governed by a Board of Directors, elected by the members, which establishes overall policy, and an Executive Board, comprising the officers, which governs operations of the association, all of whom represent three thousand dues-paying members. The policy and operations are executed by a four member professional staff.
The KAWG is proud to be a powerful voice from wheat country. We weighed in heavily in the 1996 farm legislation, emphasizing critical reforms contained in the "Freedom to Farm" legislation which was adopted. The KAWG has been working and is continuing to work with private industry to develop effective risk management tools for wheat producers such as crop revenue coverage, a revolutionary crop insurance product.
Agriculture is changing; the need for information and knowledge is increasing by quantum leaps, and the Kansas Association of Wheat Growers is leading the way to provide this vital information. By constantly researching wheat industry issues, by utilizing the experience of our membership and leadership, and by keeping in close contact with our state and national governmental elected officials, we will continue to assess the needs of our members and to provide for those needs to help our members maximize their profitability.
