Description

My name is Fred Atkinson. I have been licensed as an amateur radio operator since 1975 when I began operation under the Novice callsign of WN4AEJ in Columbia, South Carolina. I upgraded to Advanced during 1976 and decided to go after my Extra in 1990. I have been licensed as an Extra class operator ever since. I began working the 80 to 10 meter bands and later became active on 2 meters. Also, I traveled to Australia in 1991 and held the temporary Australian callsign of VK3ESS and worked some two meters on my HT while I was there. Be sure to see my virtual QSL card before you leave.

I am currently a professor at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina. I teach Computer Networking and basic electronics. You can see my University Web Site.
