Description
The european society for precision engineering and nanotechnology (euspen ) was established in 1999 with funding from the European Community under the 'Competitive and Sustainable Growth' Programme. Now established as a self-supporting, not-for-profit membership organisation, euspen is a body of more than 550 individual members and approximately 90 corporate members from leading industrial organisations, universities and research institutes world-wide.
Increasing demands for products delivering enhanced functionality, improved speed, reduced costs and increased reliability, drives an ever greater requirement for increased precision and miniaturisation, today down to the nanoscale. Both development of commercial nanotechnology based products and research into nanoscience rely upon the provision of instruments and tools to fabricate, manipulate, measure and sense at the nanoscale.
Assistance is also maintained by the EU through the project VisionOnline . This initiative primarily aids euspen in providing the community with intensive, high calibre and cost effective training in precision engineering, micro engineering and nanotechnology.
