Virginia Born & Bred was purchased in April, 1993 by Julie Lindsey and Peggy Maass. It was solely a retail shop located at 16 W. Washington Street in downtown historic Lexington, Virginia. In 1995, we launched our first mail order catalog. Slowly the mail order business grew. Sadly, in 2001, Peggy Maass died unexpectedly. Julie continued to run the retail shop and mail order business with a small staff. In 2004, Julie brought in Michele Hentz and Janet Beebe to help her grow and manage the mail order and internet business side of Virginia Born & Bred. Virginia Born & Bred recently opened its fulfillment center just 1/2 mile away from its retail shop location.

Welcome to Virginia Born & Bred! We think that our small shop in Lexington, Virginia, nestled in the Shenandoah Valley, reflects the history and charm of the Old South with items of beauty and function, wonderful foods, and the works of contemporary artists. Our products reflect traditional American values of family and home. We search diligently for the finest items available -- all tied to Virginia's rich history, folk art, and modern craftsmanship. Our goal is your complete satisfaction. As always, we promise our catalog and internet customers the same personal care and attention we provide in our unique shop.
