I have been around the game for many years as a coach and umpire. I never really was a good player but I loved to be involved with the game. My son Chris had been a top player in every league he has played in since he was six. In the last two years he started swinging wood bats and playing in wood bat leagues.
Our first wood bats were bought at the local sporting goods store. The quality of these bats were poor. Next we found good bats from Tom Cat Bats. These were high quality maple bats and lasted the whole season.
In 2003 we found Split Rock Bats and Kevin Kuklis. Split Rock had been making bats for over five years, selling to the pros as well as retail customers. Kevin Kuklis is a professional player, 6' 5" and a right handed pitcher that throws in the low 90's. In 2003 Kevin had his best year and was invited to winter ball.
