Hillstock, LLC, founded in the Spring of 2002, is an independently owned Maine based company that specializes in acquiring, digitizing and licensing vintage stock illustration.
Averyl Hill, the owner, collector and graphic designer of Hillstock was inspired by her grandmother Elaine's collection of Victorian "scraps" and other ephemera that she has collected throughout the course of her lifetime. Averyl thought that others would cherish and enjoy the images and for a few years created and shared her clip art creations as a hobby. She left her day job early in 2002 with the plan to turn her vision into a business. She did not want to just make a living; she wanted to pass on a way of life- the good old days. Averyl continues to add to the growing number of images now known as The Hillstock Collection™. She also believes that many of the early American illustrators embraced an innocence and magic that modern society craves:
"When I show people my image collections, their faces light up and they smile. Some of the older generations talk about family memories and the good old days. It's easy to fall in love with the nostalgic images from simpler times. Now you can have the magic in your crafts and projects, too."
