All aspects of a Universal Sports Lighting system adhere to the strict interpretation of the standards expressed by the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES). The IES, as the accepted body in setting standards for the lighting industry has published documents which apply to the lighting industry. Most noteworthy of these is the RP6-01, Recommended Practices for Sport and Area Lighting. Also applicable to sports lighting are IES publications which clearly address issues relevant to good practices in design and manufacturing of sports lighting systems. Universal Sports Lighting follows these accepted standards of quality.
Starting in 1998, Universal Sports Lighting undertook an 18 month process for the research and development of a "state of the art" reflector to achieve two major objectives - unequaled photometric performance and unequaled spill and glare control. After reviewing the results of over 20,000 fixtures incorporated into USL designs, the results attest to the success of these developments. Not one of all the installations provided by USL has failed to meet the projected results of either lighting levels or spill light control.
