Company overview

UniCrop is a private biotechnology company focused on developing a novel sprouting technology for the production of therapeutic proteins. The company was established in 1998 by Professor Eija Pehu and three molecular biologists, Anne Kanerva, Kimmo Koivu and Viktor Kuvshinov. UniCrop is located in Helsinki Business and Science Park in Viikki, Helsinki, and employs 26 people.

UniCrop finalized its second investment round in the beginning of 2002. The major shareholder is Sitra (National Fund for Research and Development); other institutional investors are Optiomi Oy and Solaris Capital Fund I Ky. In addition to institutional owners, UniCrop has four private shareholders.
