My name is Kimberly McCann. I am 29 years old. I have two younger sisters. I lived with my parents until I was 20 then moved out on my own. The majority of the time I have lived in Kanata and Ottawa. I married in the summer of 2002 and we had our first daughter in September 2003. In July 2005 we had our second daughter. I enjoy doing variety of activities such as camping, puzzles, hanging out with family and friends and collecting dolphin knickknacks. Some of my skills include guiding/teaching children, English/French speaking, computer, works well with others, motivating and organized. Ever since I can remember I have loved taking care of children. My dream has always been to have my own home daycare. I started by taking the babysitting course and then babysitting for friends of my parents. Once in high school I took a parenting class plus did a co-op placement in a grade 1-2 class. I then started caregiving before and after school as well as being a lunchtime monitor for a kindergarten class. Next I started my E.C.E taking one course by correspondence. I enjoyed it and continued taking E.C.E at nighttime while working as a nanny. It took me about 5 years to complete but I gained lots of hands on experience. I also have worked at an after school program then got a fulltime job at a daycare center. I opened up my own home daycare in November of 2001. I have experience with children of all ages. I have taken workshops to further my knowledge and plan to continue. Please do not hesitate in asking me questions or relating concerns to me. I’m interested in working with your family as your child develops.
My name is Stefanie Hewitt. I am 20 years old. I have two older sisters. I just recently moved from Cobden to my older sister Kim’s house. I will be living at Kim’s until October. I will be taking over her daycare while she goes on maternity leave. In October I will be getting a place with my other sister Kelly. I am looking forward to working together with Kim starting in October 2005. I graduated from the two year Early Childhood Education course in May 2005. I have many interests which include, playing soccer, listening to music, spending time with family and friends, collecting monkey stuffed animals, and of course, working with children. I realized that I loved teaching children when I helped my sister out in her daycare. In high school I took a parenting class. I also did co-op for a grade three class, and two kindergarten classes. I attended two workshops during college to further my knowledge about teaching children. Some of my skills include teamwork, motivation, and guiding children through their development.
