Title
Mount Washington Avalanche Center; Tuckerman and Huntington Ravines
Description
Tuckerman Ravine
Tuckerman Ravine, on the southeast shoulder of Mt. Washington in the White Mountain National Forest, is famous for its spectacular scenery, deep snow, and challenging hiking and skiing terrain. This large, glacial cirque, with its bowl-like form, collects snow blowing off of the Presidential Range. Snow averages about 55 feet in the deepest spot, providing a unique late spring skiing opportunity when many parts of the eastern United States are without snow. Thousands of visitors ski and hike in Tuckerman Ravine every year. To protect the ravine, yourself and those around you, skiing the ravine requires special care.
