Industrial Espionage and Electronic Eavesdropping Red Balloon Video

Description

The Red Balloon's Host

Charlie Taylor, the host for the two-hour The Red Balloon video, has a very broad and extensive background in the world of industrial espionage and telephone eavesdropping Countermeasures. As the former Director of Security for a Houston oil company in the 1970s, Mr. Taylor began his journey into the world of electronic eavesdropping when he met one of the nation’s best known eavesdroppers who outfoxed the FBI, Bell Telephone Company and Bell Labs, and a retired instructor for the U.S. Army’s courses on electronic eavesdropping and defense against sound equipment "DASE". Mentored by these two gentlemen, Taylor became one of the nation’s most respected technical surveillance countermeasures TSCM experts and has used this knowledge to teach security, law enforcement and the intelligence community about the "real world" of illegal eavesdropping.

Most of this training was through the Texas A&M University System where he was the coordinator and primary instructor for two courses, Basic Electronic Eavesdropping Countermeasures and Advance Telephone Eavesdropping and Detection for several years. While associated with the Texas A&M system, he taught corporate security professionals from such companies as IBM, AT&T, Johnson & Johnson, Hughes Aircraft, and Texas Instruments, and most of the Bell Telephone companies, and Bell Labs. As a matter of fact, Bell Labs donated several of the wiretaps they had discovered over the years to A&M so that they could be used for teaching purposes. He also taught federal, state and local law enforcement personnel and numerous people from the intelligence community; as well as the State Department.

He was also the primary author for the popular text book "Telephone Eavesdropping and Detection" which has been extensively used by both the government and private sector as THE authoritative text book on the subject.
