Trust for the Americas
Description
As a not for profit affiliate of the Organization of American States, the Trust is able to develop and execute targeted development programs that can quickly respond to the emerging needs of OAS member states. In many cases, the Trust works in concert with Technical Offices of the OAS to develop the content for its programs, leveraging the best experts in the hemisphere to ensure that our programs have maximum impact and achieve identifiable and visible results. All donations to the Trust are tax deductible in the United States.
Leveraging the in-kind contributions from Member States, in-kind expertise from the OAS, and cash donations from both the public and private sectors, The Trust executes an average of more than 5 million dollars in democracy building projects each year in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Trust is governed by a Board of Directors drawn from the private sector, including several multinational corporations, as well as three representative of the Organization of American States, including the Chief of Staff to the Secretary General, the Executive Secretary for Integral Development and the Director of Financial and Budgetary Services. The Secretary General is an ex-oficio member of the board.
