- History of the TROOPERS Program :
- The Troopers Program began in 1998 by Sergeant Lee Parson of the U.S. Army National Guard. Sgt. Parson felt the need to develop a Counterdrug program to prevent the youth of North Philadelphia from falling victim to the perils of drugs and violence within the inner city streets. In turn, he made this vision a reality for the youth of this area. The Troopers Program has now developed into a year-long Counterdrug initiative. We are a 501(c)(3) organization servicing youth through the City of Philadelphia. The Program is an educational effort, seeking to prevent self-destructive behavior in neighborhood youth (who live in the North and West Philadelphia Weed and Seed areas), through a developmental curriculum. The goal is to help today's youth acquire much needed life skills for positive self-awareness and future self-sufficiency. If you are interested (or know someone who is) in joining the Troopers Program, visit the "Contact" page for information on how to contact us.
