His parents relocated to Lompoc, CA in 1982 and his father worked on Space Shuttle operations at Vandenberg Air Force Base.
In 2001, Matthew received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physics with Specialization in Optics and Lasers from the University of Central Florida. During his time at UCF, he spent several years working at the Center for Research and Education in Optics and Light (CREOL / School of Optics), in the Photonic Diagnostics of Random Media group.
He earned the Chartered Life Underwriter designation on April 1, 2006 and the Fellow, Life Management Institute designation on May 5th, 2005.
