- We began using the name Travelers of New Jersey in 2005, with the goal of highlighting our affiliation with Travelers, one of the most respected insurance companies in the U.S. First Trenton Indemnity Company began writing personal insurance policies in March 1992 as a newly-formed, New Jersey-based subsidiary of Travelers Property and Casualty Company. Today, Travelers of New Jersey is a premier personal lines company, with more than 380,000 policies in force serviced by over 400 employees. We are the largest personal lines independent agency company in New Jersey, and currently the state's 7th largest personal lines insurer, overall.
