Chris became involved with dog training as soon as she was old enough to hold a leash! Since then her life has been dedicated to learning as much as possible about dogs and how they learn. She has pursued this education in many different ways and will continue to do so until her dying day. Chris believes every dog has something new to teach her!
As a youngster, Chris could not have a dog of her own, so she sought out all the neighborhood dogs to love. When she was mature enough to take them for walks on her own, she did. In fifth grade she began walking Heidi, a German Shepherd Dog. For over five years they were constant companions.
Through Heidi's neighbor, Chris found out about a training club within walking distance. Because she could not join the club and train, she and Heidi spent many Sunday mornings sitting on the sidelines watching and listening. Chris learned to become a skilled and perceptive observer of dogs and people during her middle and high school years. Therefore, long before becoming a dog owner, she was a seasoned and experienced dog watcher! All that she learned by watching and listening would form the basis for her developing new insights about dogs and innovative and unique approaches to training.
