Timber Frame Homes by Northern Timberworks

Description

THE OWNERS: Wayne and Debbie Cripps built their first Timber Frame Home in 1987. Wayne was a graduate of The B. Allen Mackie School of Log Building and had built a log home for them and worked on several others. We were attracted to the Timber Frame for many reasons. Our log house was dark, high maintenance, and not very energy efficient. The timber frame structure itself made sense to us. We didn't realize then how beautiful a Timber Frame Home could be because we had never seen one. We were one of the first in Western Canada where Timber Framing was not well known. Our first project was a conventional ranch home with a Timber Frame living/dining room, and exterior decks. We call this kind of project a "Hybrid" now. We went on to building a barn, that became a house and word slowly was getting out. We built several large high end custom Timber Frame Homes, and lots of smaller additions, shops etc.

OUR SERVICES: We are a full service Timber Frame Company. We can take a project out from design to completion. Through our experience we have found that it is important to provide more than just a Timber Frame to the client. We can customize your material package to include tongue and groove decking, wall panel systems, hard wood flooring, doors and windows, siding and complete lumber packages. All these we can access locally to save you money. Having these items as part of your package can save you time and money, especially if you're building outside of a major urban center. Many of these products are not available from the big box building centers. Along with the package comes a representative from our company to guide you through the construction process.

There are several options for the completion of your Northern Timberworks package. You may choose to take over the construction after we raise your Timber Frame. With a precut panel system this would not require professional carpenters. We would provide directions and support from our office and you could save thousands of dollars by doing the bulk of the work yourselves. We could provide a crew to complete the home for you. This could be expensive if it involved travel and living out expenses. This too would depend on labor rates in your vicinity and availability of trade's people. A local contractor may be your best option. We have had very good success with this method. You may know a local contractor that you know and trust. Putting one of our packages together may be a little different then what they are used to doing, but they should find it quite simple.
