There is currently a great deal of information on environment protection available in many different languages worldwide in newspapers, magazine, TV, radio and Internet. This improves people's understanding of the environment, and ultimately, with this knowledge, people can work to improve the environment, locally and globally. On the top of the world - the Tibetan Plateau - there are many newspapers and magazines in Tibetan language, but most are for improvement of literature and for policy propagation. There are no environmental magazines or newspapers from which Tibetan people can acquire environmental information. Tibetan people's environment understanding cannot be developed without current information on these issues. It is very important that Tibetans have a stage on which to discuses and exchange ideas on environment protection issues in Tibetan language. Government workers, teachers, businesspeople, factory employees, doctors, and many others need a Tibetan language environmental newspaper, magazine and Website. Also, through this website editors can use their language as a tool to encourage Tibetan people to be concerned about their environment and the world. Today China is opening to the world, and developing its industries at a rapid pace. The Great West China Development Program is in progress and constructions of factories are increasing on the Tibetan Plateau. Under these rapidly changing circumstances, it is vital that we increase awareness and concern about sustainable development and the protection of the natural environment of the area. Therefore we are going to establish a non-profit environmental website " www.tibetanecology.org " will contain information on different global environmental issues. This will be the first Tibetan environmental website in Tibetan language. This website will make environmental information accessible to all of the Tibetan communities in China and global. We plan to distribute free charge of environmental poster to schools, offices, factories, monasteries, and we will make it available in Tibetan marketplaces in towns and villages throughout Tibet. We are a grass roots, folk website, not associated with any government or non-government organizations. We would be greatly appreciative of any donations from your organization or from private individuals towards the development of the website.
