Tunnel Hill United Methodist Church
Description
Because you are a unique person with a unique role to play: each should be willing to seek to use his/her gifts.
The Tunnel Hill United Methodist Church was organized about 1848, several years before the civil war. The first church building was erected shortly afterwards and during the civil war was used by federal troops as a stable for their horses and mules. The second church building was begun in 1893 and completed in 1894.
After the war, the church pulled out of the Methodist Conference and became the Methodist Episcopal Church South. In 1939 the Methodist Episcopal Church South and the Methodist Episcopal Church North merged and became the Methodist Church. Again in 1968, the Methodist Church and the Evangelical United Church merged and became the United Methodist Church.
