- Much of Thinkage's software was designed and implemented by the Software Development Group of the University of Waterloo. A change in university policy led to an amicable separation in 1991, when the personnel of SDG left UW to form Thinkage Ltd. Thinkage assumed ownership of SDG's software, and benefited from the longstanding business relationships that SDG had developed, particularly with Bull and General Electric.
