Description
ocated in Ocean Park, Maine, just 12 miles south of Portland. It is a ministry of The American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts, an association of over 250 churches which also sponsors a camp and conference center in Ocean Park called Oceanwood. "The Pines" is the name given to the 10 acre campus which has two components: Ocean Pines, with 60 garden style apartments, and Pinewood, with 50 apartments all under one roof. The Pines is a People Place, a way of life.
The Pines provides affordable housing and related services for people over the age of 62 and for people who are challenged by a handicap. To be eligible for admission a person should be capable of independent living utilizing sevices he or she brings with him/her to The Pines. Once a person is a resident we do all we can to refer appropriate supportive services that will enable a person to maintain his/her independent life style as long as feasible, without imposition on other residents. When independent living is no longer possible, we recommend and facilitate transitional arrangements.
The Pines is a Not-for-Profit, church-related charitable organization. Income from rents, investments and miscellaneous service fees cover the expense of internal operations. However, programming, social services and amenities are made possible by contributed funds and proceeds from the endowment for The Pines maintained by TABCOM as sponsor and managing agent.
